How many times in one hour do you touch your face? Would you be surprised to know the average number is sixteen? This becomes especially important when you consider that we’re in the middle of a pandemic. Adam Karapetyan, founder of Wholesale Nitrile Gloves, knows that one way to prevent the virus’ transmission is through the use of nitrile gloves, which have emerged as another option in the war against the virus.
Nitrile is a sturdy material that was in use long before the world changed in 2021. While nitrile starts as rubber from rubber trees, it is processed in such a way that it becomes a uniquely strong chemical. For the past fifteen years, medical professionals, food workers, tattoo artists, and even mechanics have used nitrile gloves to protect their hands and health (no matter how many times they touch their faces).
There have been studies done to research their effectiveness. In one, nitrile was compared to vinyl and latex. The results were significant: vinyl gloves failed 12-61% of the time while the results were better for latex (0-4%) and nitrile (1-3%).
Why is nitrile becoming more popular for glove manufacturers? One reason is because it resists chemicals so well. It is also extremely soft and very clean. Its exceptional properties mean it is also used in the electronics industry. It resists punctures. Lastly, it is free of latex, which is good news for allergy sufferers.
As nitrile gloves have evolved, their advantages and media attention have grown as well. Their price is similar to that of latex gloves, and they are comfortable even when worn for long periods of time. Their wearer is able to easily pick-up objects, and arguably best of all, the hands do not sweat.
“Unfortunately, while the benefits of these gloves have been undeniable, the pandemic and the demand for them have inevitably led to their price increasing and availability decreasing,” Adam states. With relatively few domestic manufacturers of the gloves yet so many advantages, Adam has used his company, Wholesale Nitrile Gloves, to fill the demand.
“Personally, I think I touch my face reflexively or by habit a lot more often than sixteen times an hour,” Adam laughs. “I myself wear gloves for this very reason – otherwise, it would be very easy for me to pick up the virus. Before I started my company, I knew other people were also concerned about virus transmission and wanted gloves, so I worked to acquire and distribute high-quality personal protective equipment, and demand really took off. Now I use my multi-state distribution network to help my customers get gloves.”
In past year, Adam has used his business to provide personal protective wear that is of a high quality and reasonably priced.
“I experience a lot of satisfaction at my job knowing that by offering these gloves, a person will be safer at their workplace or in their home. While gloves are just one defense, they are an important part of combatting the pandemic.”
